Thank you!! As we round out 2025 with a video montage of some of the 350+ cats and kittens we helped during our inaugural year we must say thank you once more to everyone who helped us make it possible!
To our supporting vets, pet shops, op shops, businesses, donators, adopters, foster carers and anyone else who helped us in anyway, a heartfelt thank you!! A small group of us took on a huge challenge at the start of 2025 and were blessed to have so many people believe in us and come on board and help!
Our foster carers deserve thanks more than anyone! They take unknown cats into their own homes, often at short notice. Sometimes these are wild, sometimes terrified, sometimes sick or pregnant , sometimes there are many in one go and sometimes they need bottle feeding every couple of hours day and night!
Somehow, no matter how full we are, someone always says yes to the new intake and makes it work one way or another. We have all known full bathrooms, loungerooms stepping round enclosures, kittens underfoot everywhere, many vet trips and adoption meets...
There is heartbreak - sadly not all of the sick and injured survive, neither do all of the neonates, and it matters not whether you have had the cat for hours or weeks, the devastation is real. But still we go on for those that do move on to have their best lives.
Our foster carers could not do this without the help we get from our supporters and as we start 2026 we say thank you to everyone and here's to an even better 2026!
Bunnings sausage sizzle
And another Bunnings Sausage Sizzle for Alley Cat Rescue Team is done and dusted - what a day! Patronage was outstanding and the Christmas raffle received positive comments and strong support.
A huge thank you to anyone and everyone who contributed to the day. A big shout out to the volunteer who loaned us the decorated and full trailer and delivered the prize ; to those who helped out at the sausage sizzle, including those who braved a 7:00am start to set up and then cashiered ; to those who stayed for the duration despite being half frozen by the chilly wind ; and to those who came in at short notice and filled an unexpected gap in the roster! The team support is much appreciated and without you all we could not continue doing what we do.
Of course we must thank Bunnings for allowing us to participate in this event, and all the wonderful businesses who supported Alley Cat Rescue with either physical donations or vouchers. A heartfelt thank you from all our cats, kittens and the entire Alley Cat Rescue Team.

Come and meet many of our currently available cats and kittens at Head 2 Tail Pets - fall in love with one, be vetted and adopt on the day!
Smiles All Round
On 10th September, two of our team members visited the Day Club at Hawthorn House—bringing along our newest litter of lively, seven-week-old kittens. After a brief intro about ACRT’s mission and milestones, we let the kittens loose… and they wasted no time turning the room into a playground of purrs and paws.
Clients lit up with joy as they cuddled the wriggly furballs, while staff and volunteers couldn’t stop with the “oohs,” “ahhs,” and “I want one!” To reassure the former farmers in the room, we shared how ACRT cats are trained to live in harmony with local wildlife.
One kitten hadn’t been named yet, sparking a fun challenge to find a cosmic or solar-inspired name. The winning suggestion? “Moonee.”
We also delivered a colourful donation bin, now stationed outside Hawthorn House’s main building for the next 3–4 weeks. After their big day out, the kittens were tuckered out—and we suspect the humans were too!
